Have you ever felt like you can be so many different things simultaneously? No, I’m not talking about Multiple Personality Disorder. I am talking about that feeling of joy, when you can be a daughter, an individual, a wife, a mother, a friend, and so many other roles in the same moment. You can feel happy about your achievements, sad about your daughter’s first heart-break and jealous of your mom’s perfect recipe. This is from a woman’s perspective and it’s a tribute to all women, my mom, my sister, my friends and all those women out there who know how to multitask and do it so beautifully. Some of us are so efficient, it makes me bite my tongue, and others, like me, putter around finding moments of perfect peace, where we can laugh at each other and enjoy the mystery lady within us. Cheers.
Mystery Lady
She sleeps like a newborn child
Her smile as innocent as a new dewdrop
A thousand sparklers lit up when she smiled
As she walks, the descent of snowflakes stops.
Her beauty lies in the earth she inhabits
Her voice exists in the wind wailing through the craggy peaks
Her favorite animals are the frolicking rabbits
And her dance leaves the dust unsettled for weeks.
She can be the calm ocean
And the raging storm that drowns everything in sight
She can be the lotus without any motion
Or the lily glowing brightly in the night.
She has the soul of a sprite
And the grace of a queen
She runs like a bird about to take flight
And she has the look of a pearl polished to sheen.
She is the nurturing mother, graceful and steady
She is the mischievous child, skipping free…
She is the mystery lady
She exists in you and me!
